Join, request and leave groups in a circle
Groups are smaller chats inside a circle. Join open ones, ask to join private ones, pin or mute them, and leave without leaving the circle.

A circle can have several groups, each a smaller chat for one topic, like Maintenance, Parents or Block A. Only the people in a group can read it.
The groups every circle has
- General: everyone in the circle is in it, always. It can't be removed, and nobody can be taken out of it.
- Announcements, if the circle has it: everyone is in it, and only admins post. See The Announcements group.
A circle with only General opens straight into the General chat. Once it has more groups, it opens on a list of them.
Open and private groups
- Open: any circle member can join with a tap.
- Private: you ask to join, and an admin says yes.
Either way, only the group's members can read it. Some groups show Only admins can send messages; everyone can still read, react and vote there.
Join a group
Find groups you're not in
Open the circle. In the app, look under Groups to join or Other groups. On the website, open the Groups tab.Join an open group
Tap Join. In the app, Join all joins every open group at once.Ask to join a private group
Tap Ask to join. Add a note for the admins if you like, then tap Send request. You'll be told when you're in. Changed your mind? Tap Withdraw request.
Some groups add new members automatically when they join the circle. An admin can also add you to a group, and you're told when they do.
Leave a group
You stop seeing what's said in it, but you stay in the circle. You can't leave General or Announcements; leaving the circle is the way out of those.
Keep your list tidy
To start your own group, or for admin settings, see Create and manage groups.
