How do I leave a circle?
Leave a circle and all its groups from its About page, what happens to your messages, and why the owner has to hand over first.
- In the app
- On zinola.in
Updated
You can leave a circle at any time. Leaving takes you out of every group in it too.
Open the circle
Find it under Circles › My circles, or on your Home.Open About
In the app, tap the circle's name at the top, or tap ⋯ › About this circle.Tap Leave circle
A box asks if you want to leave and reminds you that you leave every group too. Tap Leave to confirm.
What happens when you leave
- You leave every group in the circle, including General.
- You stop getting its notifications.
- Your past messages stay in the chats.
- An open circle lets you join again any time. A closed circle needs an admin's approval again.
Leaving one group, not the whole circle
If you only want out of one group, leave that group instead. You can't leave General or Announcements on their own; leaving the circle is the way out of those. See Join, request and leave groups.
If it's the noise you mind, you don't have to leave. You can mute the circle or a group, or choose fewer notifications. See Mute a post, chat or circle.
If you started the circle
The owner can't leave. You'll see You created this circle — you can't leave it. Hand the circle over to another member first, then leave. See Roles and handing over a circle. If nobody should run it, you can archive or delete it.
