Updated

A poll asks everyone in a group to vote, such as which Sunday suits the cleaning drive or whether to change the security agency. In apartment circles, polls count one vote per home.

Start a poll

  1. Open the group and tap +

In the app, choose Poll from the drawer. On the website, choose the poll button.
  2. Write the question

    Between 2 and 200 characters.
  3. Add the options

From 2 up to 12 options, each up to 80 characters. Turn on Pick any if people may choose more than one.
  4. Choose when it closes

Set a date under Closes, or choose Never.
  5. Send it

Tap Start poll on the website, or send from the app.

Admins can always start polls. Members can if Start polls and events is open to everyone in Circle permissions. Polls aren't available in personal chats.

Vote

Tap an option. The card shows the votes so far. Tap See who for the Who voted list.

One vote per home

In a residence circle the card says ONE VOTE PER HOME. Your door number counts, not your phone, so two people in the same flat share one answer, and either of them can change it.

  • You need a door number to vote. If you haven't given one, you'll see Add your door number to vote in polls here ›. See Join questions and your door number.
  • If someone at your door already voted, you'll see Your home has already voted. Choose Change it to mine or Keep their answer.
  • The card counts homes, such as “12 of 40 homes voted”.

Close a poll

The person who started it, or an admin, can tap Close poll. Nobody can vote after that, and the results stay where they are.

Every poll in a circle also collects in its Polls & events room. See The Buy & sell and Polls & events rooms. For events, see Events inside a circle.

Common questions

How do I make a poll count one vote per flat?
Polls do this automatically in a residence (apartment) circle. Each member gives a door number, and each home gets one answer.
Can I change my vote in a circle poll?
Yes, while the poll is open. In a residence circle, anyone in your home can change your home's answer.
Who can close a poll?
The person who started it, or an admin of the circle. The results stay visible after it closes.
