Muting a chat stops its sounds and banners for a while or for good. You can mute a personal chat, one group, or a whole circle. An @-mention of you still gets through.

What muting does
- No sound or banner for new messages.
- The chat drops out of your badge counts. Unread messages still show inside the circle, so you can catch up when you like.
- An @-mention of you still notifies you.
- A muted chat shows when the mute ends, for example “Muted until 9:00 pm”.
What can't be muted
Chats about marketplace listings and enquiries with businesses can't be muted. They're about a deal in progress, so they stay on.

Common questions
How do I mute a WhatsApp-style group on Zinola?
Press and hold the group in the circle's list in the app and tap Mute, then choose 8 hours, 1 week or Always.
Will I still be notified if someone mentions me in a muted group?
Yes. An @-mention of you still notifies you, even in a muted group or circle.
Why can't I mute a marketplace chat?
Chats about listings and business enquiries can't be muted, because they're about a deal in progress.
