Unread messages and jumping around a chat
The unread divider, the new messages pill, jumping to replies, pins and search results, and history from before you joined.

When you open a group with messages you haven't read, Zinola marks where the new part starts. Several shortcuts help you jump around a long chat.
Where you left off
- A divider reads, for example, 12 unread messages above the first one you haven't seen.
- Day dividers such as Today and Yesterday mark where each day starts.
- Your group list and the circle show unread counts, and Unread filters in the app show only groups with something new.
New messages while you scroll up
If messages arrive while you're reading older ones, a pill says how many, for example 3 new messages. Tap it, or Go to the newest messages, to jump to the bottom.
Jump to a message
- A reply's quote: tap the quote to go to the message it answers.
- A pinned message: tap the pinned strip, or open Pinned messages and tap Go to message. See Pin messages.
- A search result: tap it to open the chat at that message. See Search a chat.
- A saved message: open it from Saved messages. See Saved messages.
If a message is too far back to show, you'll be asked to scroll up in the chat to find it.
Messages from before you joined
At the top of a group you may see “Messages from before you joined aren't shown.” How much history new members get is chosen by the circle's admins when they let you in. See Approve or decline join requests.
Muted groups still show their unread counts inside the circle, but don't add to your badge. See Mute a chat.
