Reply rules and limits
Replies take up to 4,000 characters and 10 photos, nest one level, and allow 3 recommendations each. What you can't do on your own post.
- In the app
- On zinola.in
Updated
Replies have a few limits: length, photos, how deep a thread goes, and what you can do on your own post. Here they all are in one place.
The limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Length of a reply | Up to 4,000 characters |
| Photos on a reply | Up to 10 |
| Recommendations from you on one post | Up to 3 |
| How deep replies go | One level: a response, and replies under it |
| Editing | No time limit |
Past the limits you'll see messages such as That reply is too long — 4,000 characters at most., Ten photos is the most one reply can carry. and You've suggested 3 already — change one instead.
On your own post
- You can reply, for example to thank someone or answer a follow-up.
- You can't recommend someone or offer I can help on your own post. Zinola reminds you that it's your post, your neighbors will answer it, and you can still reply.
- You can't tap ✋ Me too on your own post, or on your own reply.
- Only you, as the asker, can mark This helped and Say thanks. See “This helped” and “Say thanks”.
Replying to a reply
Tap Reply under a response to answer it. You can't reply to a reply that's already nested; reply to the response at the top of that thread instead.
Sorting replies
- App: Oldest first or Newest first. Tap the sort button to switch.
- Website: Oldest, Newest or Top. Top ranks replies by seconds and reactions.
On the website, a reply the asker marked This helped always comes first.
Reacting and seconding
A plain reply takes the same six reactions as a post. A recommendation or an offer of help has a Second button instead. Seconding tells the person who wrote it that you agree, and helps the best answer rise. See React to a post.
Keeping it civil
Replies follow the Community Guidelines. If a reply breaks them, tap ⋯ › Report. See Report a post, person or message.
