React to a post

Every post has six reactions. Pick one to show how you feel about it; you can change it or take it back whenever you like.

1. Find the reaction button

   It sits in the row under the post, right before the replies count. With no reactions yet it shows 🙌 alone. Once people react, it shows the top faces and the total.

2. Tap it to open the six

   In the app, tap it (on the post screen it's React). On the website, click it and the six float over the button. Hover over one to see its name, or press Esc to close without picking.

3. Pick one

   Tap a reaction. It's saved straight away and the count updates.

Changing or removing yours

• One reaction per person. Picking a different one replaces yours, so the total doesn't change.
• Pick the same one again to remove it.
• To add the same reaction others left, tap the button and pick it. Tapping a face on the button opens the six too; it doesn't react straight away.

Who sees what

• Everyone sees how many of each reaction a post has.
• Nobody sees a list of who reacted. There's no names list on posts.
• The writer gets a notification, “Reacted to” their post or reply, naming who. Many reactions on one thing are grouped into one notification, such as “Ravi and 3 others”. Changing or removing your reaction doesn't notify anyone.

Where you can react

• Posts, and plain replies under them.
• Stories (reviews) and the comments on them.
• Marketplace listings and events.

A recommendation or an offer of help has a Second button instead of reactions. Questions on a listing or an event take a plain like.
