The post form is one box with a few extras around it. Only the words are needed, and a photo can stand in for them. Everything else is optional, apart from one rule for recommendations on the website.
Open the form
In the app, tap + and pick Ask a question, Recommend someone or Need help. On the website, open Ask your street from the menu under your photo.Pick the kind
Tap Post, Ask, Request or Recommend at the top. Your words stay if you switch.Fill in what you need
Write in the box, then add photos, tags or, on the website, a number.Post it
The button turns on once the post has what it needs.
The four kinds
| Kind | App row on + | Box prompt | Neighbors' button |
|---|---|---|---|
| Post | Any row, then Post | “What's happening on your street?” | Reply |
| Ask | Ask a question | “Does anyone know a good…” | Answer |
| Request | Need help | “Looking for someone to…” | I can help |
| Recommend | Recommend someone | “Recommend someone… tag them with @” | Agree |
The kind changes three things: the prompt in the box, the button neighbors see, and how far the post reaches by default. Ask and Request go to your area and the areas around it. Post and Recommend go to your area only.
Event sits beside the four kinds, but it has its own form. See Host an event.

A few notes on the fields:
- Photos: in the app, tap + on the card, then Photos or Take photo. On the website, open the + menu and choose Photos (“Up to 10”).
- Area: in the app, tap Change area on the + sheet. On the website, use Change area under Who sees this. See Who sees your post.
- Add a price only asks when your words contain an amount: “Is that a price?”
When the button turns on
- App: Post stays off until you write something or add a photo. The card says Write something, or add a photo.
- Website: Post to (followed by where it's going) stays off until you write something or add a photo. On Recommend, it also waits for a tagged business, and the status line says Tag the business you recommend.
Drafts
Leave the form with something in it and you can Save draft. The app keeps your words, photos and kind, but not your tags. The website keeps those plus your tags, number, price and area. See Save a draft.
