Updated
Every photo you add to Zinola is shown in a few places at once, often at different shapes. A photo of the right size and shape looks sharp on phones and on the website, and nothing important gets cut off.

Sizes are in pixels, width × height. Photos in posts, replies, reviews and chats can be any shape: they're shown in a neat grid and open whole when tapped.
Where photos get cropped
- Event covers are the most cut about: the website's event page trims the top and bottom, the app trims the left and right, and a shared link shows a tall slice from the middle.
- Business banners show at 16:9 on the website and taller in the app, which trims the sides.
- Profile photos and logos are shown small with rounded corners.
- Listing and gallery photos sit in 4:3 cards; the full photo opens when someone taps it.
What you can upload
- Formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. iPhone HEIC photos work in the app and on zinola.in.
- File size: pick a photo up to 10 MB. Zinola shrinks it for you before it's sent, so big phone photos are fine.
- Bigger isn't sharper: every photo is resized to at most 2048 pixels on its long side, so anything larger only takes longer to upload.
- Transparent backgrounds turn white when you upload from the website. A logo on a plain white or light background looks the same everywhere.
Tips for photos that look good
- Shoot in daylight, facing the light, not against it.
- Hold the phone sideways for anything landscape: covers, banners, listings.
- Use a plain background for things you sell and for logos.
- Skip text on covers and banners. It's hard to read on a phone, and it's the first thing to get cropped.
Common questions
Why is my photo cropped on Zinola?
Each screen shows photos at a fixed shape, so a photo of a different shape is cut from the middle. Use the size in the table above and keep the important part in the centre.
Can I upload iPhone photos to Zinola?
Yes. HEIC photos from an iPhone work in the Zinola app and on zinola.in. They're converted to JPEG for you.
Why does my photo look blurry?
It's probably smaller than the size it's shown at. Use a photo at least as big as the smallest size in the table, and avoid screenshots of photos.
What's the largest photo I can upload?
You can pick a photo up to 10 MB. Zinola shrinks it automatically, so you don't need to resize it yourself.
