Sell or give something away

List an item on the Zinola marketplace in five quick screens: type, photos, price, who sees it, then publish. Free, and your number stays hidden.

  • In the app
  • On zinola.in

Updated

Anyone signed in can list something for the neighborhood: an old cycle, extra plants, a cupboard you no longer need. The listing is free, and buyers reach you through a private chat on Zinola, never your phone number.

  1. Start a listing

In the app, tap + › Sell or give away. On the website, go to Marketplace and choose Sell something.
  2. Say what you're posting

Under What are you posting?, pick a type such as For sale, then pick a category. For sale fits most things, and you can change it later.
  3. Show and describe it

Add up to 10 photos. The first one is the Cover; hold and drag to reorder them in the app. Then describe what it is, its size and its condition.
  4. Set the price and timing

Choose Paid, Free or On request, and switch on Negotiable if you're open to offers.
  5. Choose who sees it

Pick areas, cities or states, or Only my circles.
  6. Check and publish

Look over the card as neighbors will see it, then tap Publish.

In the app, the band at the top shows where you are, for example Sell something · 2 of 4. Types with nothing to ask about price or dates skip that screen.

The form, field by field

Which fields you see depends on the type. Zinola can change what each type asks for, so you may see a little more or less than this.

Best photo size

Size
Best1600 × 1200 pixels, landscape (4:3)
Smallest that still looks sharp1000 × 750 pixels

Listing cards are 4:3, so a landscape photo shows whole. The big photo at the top of the listing is wider on the website and taller in the app, so put the item in the middle with some space around it. Shoot in daylight against a plain background, and make the first photo the clearest. More in Photo sizes that look best.

Things to know

  • Leave your number out. Zinola won't publish a listing with a phone number in it. Share it inside an enquiry once you know who's asking.
  • There's no separate headline box. Make the first line of the description count.

After you publish, you'll see “Your listing is live. Enquiries come to your inbox.” Read Set your price, Choose who sees your listing and How long do listings last?.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to sell on Zinola?
No. Posting a listing on the Zinola marketplace is free, and Zinola takes no commission when you sell.
How many photos can I add to a listing?
You can add up to 10 photos. The first photo is the cover that shows on the listing card.
What size should my listing photos be?
Landscape, 4:3, ideally 1600 × 1200 pixels, with the item in the middle. That's the shape of the listing cards.
Why can't I add my phone number to my listing?
Zinola blocks phone numbers in listings to protect you from spam. Buyers message you in a private enquiry, and you can share your number there once you know who is asking.
Can I give something away for free?
Yes. Post it as For sale and choose the Free price option. Your listing shows a Free tag.
