Why is something I posted hidden?

Something you posted can be hidden in three ways: our word filter caught it, several people reported it, or a moderator took it down. In every case you're told, and you can see where it stands under Under review.

1. The word filter

Posts, replies, reviews, listings and messages are checked as you send them. If one has a slur or explicit sexual language, it's saved but hidden, and never published. You'll see:

Posted, but hidden — it goes against our community standards. Only you can see it.

You also get a notification and an email about it. Under review lists it as Hidden · against community standards.

If you think the filter got it wrong, ask us to look again.

2. Reports from other people

Something is hidden automatically while a moderator checks it when:

• 3 different people report it within 24 hours; or
• 2 people report it for hate speech, sexual content, or harassment or bullying.

Business pages and profiles are never hidden automatically. Reports about them go straight to a moderator.

3. A moderator's decision

Moderators can hide or remove content, warn you, or suspend your account for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or indefinitely. While an account is suspended, everything it posted is hidden and it can't post. It all comes back when the suspension ends.

What you can do

1. Open Under review

   In the app, tap your photo › Settings › Privacy & safety › Under review. On the website, open Your profile from the menu under your photo › More › Under review.

2. Check its status

   You'll see what was hidden, how many people reported it, and the main reason.

3. Ask us to look again

   If it was hidden automatically and you think that's wrong, tap Ask us to look again and tell us why.
