Updated

When a neighbor posts something To lend, like a ladder, a drill or a pressure cooker, you can ask to borrow it. The chat keeps track of who has it and when it's coming back. Nothing is paid.

Ask to borrow

  1. Open the listing

You'll usually find it in your circle's chat or its Buy & sell room.
  2. Tap Enquire

Send the owner a short message, like “Can I borrow it?”
  3. Tap + › Ask to borrow

In the chat, tap + and choose Ask to borrow.
  4. Pick a return day

Under Return by, pick the day you'll bring it back. Add a note about when you'll pick it up, then send the request.

The owner says yes first. Until then, the card reads Waiting for the owner.

Lend it (owner)

When a Borrow request comes in, tap Lend it to agree, or decline if you can't this time. Arrange the handover in the chat with Schedule handover. Once you've handed it over, the card shows Lent.

Bring it back

  • The borrower taps I returned it after handing it back.
  • The owner taps Got it back. The card shows Returned, and the item is back with its owner.

The card's steps, Asked, Lent and Returned, show where each loan stands. When a loan finishes, that chat closes, and the owner can lend the item again after.

To post something of your own for neighbors to borrow, see Wanted and To lend posts.

Common questions

Do I have to pay to borrow something on Zinola?
No. To lend posts have no price, and nothing is paid through the app.
How do I mark that I returned a borrowed item?
Open the chat with the owner and tap I returned it on the loan card. The owner then taps Got it back.
Can I lend the same thing again?
Yes. When a loan is finished, that chat closes, and you can lend the item again after. If the listing has ended, extend it from your listings.
