Updated

This is the whole journey of buying something from a neighbor on Zinola, from the first message to the money arriving. Each step happens inside one private enquiry chat between you and the seller, using cards so nothing gets lost in the messages.

  1. Buyer: tap Enquire and send your question

Open the listing, tap Enquire, ask something like “Is it still available?” and tap Send enquiry. Your phone number stays hidden.
  2. Buyer: send a request card

In the chat, tap +. Choose Buy at this price for a fixed price, or Ask the price if the price is negotiable or on request.
  3. Seller: answer with a price

Tap Send a price, and mark it Negotiable or fixed.
  4. Buyer: accept, decline or counter

Tap Accept to agree, or Decline. On a negotiable price you can Counter with your own figure, and the seller can accept or counter back. The card shows Agreed when you’re done.
  5. Either of you: set a time to meet

Send Schedule pickup (or Set visit time, Schedule delivery or Arrange collection) with When and Where. The other person taps Confirm, or Change time.
  6. Meet and check the item

See it working before any money moves.
  7. Seller: tap + › Request payment

Enter the Amount (₹) and Your UPI ID, then Send request. The card says Waiting for payment.
  8. Buyer: pay and tap I've paid

Tap the Pay button on the card, pay in your UPI app, then come back and tap I've paid.
  9. Seller: tap Received

When the money shows in your bank or UPI app, tap Received on the card.
  10. Seller: tap Mark sold

This closes the listing and every chat about it. You can both still read the chat.

Things that change the flow

  • Free items: the buyer taps Ask for it, and there is no price or payment step. The seller finishes with Mark given away.
  • Orders, offers and slots from businesses: Mark sold only closes your chat. The listing stays up for the next person.
  • Borrowing: lending has its own cards. See Borrow and return things.
  • Paying in cash: you can skip the payment cards. The seller still taps Mark sold at the end.
  • Changing your mind: the buyer can Withdraw a request while it’s waiting, or tap End chat.

For each step in more detail, see Enquire about a listing, Offers, counter-offers and pickup times and Pay or get paid with UPI.

Common questions

How do I buy something on the Zinola marketplace?
Tap Enquire on the listing, agree a price with the seller using the cards in the chat, set a time to meet, then pay by UPI from the seller’s payment request. The seller marks it sold at the end.
When should I pay the seller?
Pay after you have seen and checked the item, usually at the pickup. Zinola can’t refund payments, so don’t pay in advance to someone you haven’t met.
Do I have to pay through the chat?
No. The UPI payment card is optional. You can pay in cash or any way you both agree, and the seller still marks the item sold.
Does Zinola charge anything for a marketplace sale?
No. There is no fee or commission. The money goes straight from the buyer to the seller.
