Get alerts about your area
Three switches for alerts about neighbors asking for help, posts near you and new listings, and the daily limits that keep them small.

Area alerts tell you when something happens near you, even in places you haven't joined. There are three, and each has its own switch.

Open the setting
In the app, tap your photo › Settings › Area & location. On the website, open Settings from the menu under your photo and find Your neighborhood.Turn each alert on or off
In the app it saves straight away. On the website, tap Save changes.
How Zinola keeps them small
- “Near you” is based on the area you set, plus the areas around it. See Set or change your area.
- A single post alerts at most 40 people, nearest first.
- If a friend posts, you hear about it first, and the alert says it's your friend.
- You never get alerts about your own posts.
- Circles and groups you're already in always reach you. These switches don't change that.
They also follow your phone's switches
On your phone, area alerts are pushes, so they also need the right group on in Settings › Notifications:
- asks and area posts come under Your neighborhood;
- new listings come under Enquiries.
If a group is off, the alert still lands in the bell, without a buzz.

Common questions
How do I stop alerts about posts near me?
Go to Settings › Area & location in the app, or Settings on the website, and turn off Tell me what my area is posting. Turn off Tell me when a neighbor is asking too if you want no area alerts.
How many area alerts will Zinola send me?
At most 3 a day for neighbors asking for help, and at most 5 a day for area posts. Each one also reaches only the 40 nearest people.
Can I get alerts when someone in my area sells something?
Yes. Turn on Tell me about new listings near me under Area & location.
