People near you on Home

The People near you card on the app's Home shows a few neighbors who live close by, and sometimes the neighbor of the week with a button to thank them. It sits above the feed, under Get started.

1. Open Home

   Look above the feed on Neighborhood for People near you.

2. Tap a face

   A card opens with their name, followers and Follow. Tap View profile to see everything.

3. See everyone

   Tap See all at the top of the card. It opens the people directory, on neighbors near you.

Who appears

Up to four faces, nearest first: people in your own area, then the areas around it, then the rest of your city. Under each name is how far away they live, or Friend with a small tick if you follow each other.

Someone only appears if:

• they live in or around your city;
• they have Let neighbors find me turned on;
• neither of you has blocked the other.

You never see yourself here. If nobody fits, the card doesn't show.

Neighbor of the week

When someone has been helping out, a line appears at the top of the card, such as “Priya answered 4 questions for neighbors this week”. They're picked from people who share a circle with you, by the questions they answered and the reviews they wrote in the last seven days. Answers count for more than reviews.

Tap 👏 Appreciate to thank them. It can't be taken back, and once you've appreciated them the line goes away. If you're not in any circle yet, there's no neighbor of the week to show. See Neighbor of the week and Appreciate.

Follow someone from here

Tap their face, then Follow on the card that opens (or Follow back if they already follow you). If their account is private, it says Requested until they accept. See Follow and unfollow people.

Stop appearing

In the app, tap your photo › Settings › Area & location and turn off Let neighbors find me. On the website, it's in Settings. You'll stop showing up in People near you, the people directory, people search and suggestions. Posts you've already made stay public. See “Let neighbors find me”.
